Nicholas Simanjuntak graduated from Bandung Institute of Technology in Environmental Engineering in 2008. Prior to joining NZMATES team as Technical Manager, Nicholas has worked in international private companies, government institutions, and international development agencies, including UNDP and GIZ. He has more than 13 years of experience working in the renewable energy and sustainability project development sector, which included high-level engagement with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Environmental and Forestry, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Planning Agency, and local government. Nicholas also has the ability to use software such as PVSyst and Solargis.

As Technical Manager, Nicholas is responsible for managing the technical aspects of the NZMATES program, including strategizing, planning, mapping, communicating and leading the implementation of technical assistance for renewable energy projects in the programme pipeline. He leads the development of technical assessments for potential renewable energy projects, and works on aspects such as: design, engineering, feasibility studies, budgeting, modeling, and contributes to providing project delivery support with external stakeholders.
