Green Exhibition: A Hub for Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration and Renewable Energy Technology Innovation in Maluku Province

As part of the 1st Maluku Energy Forum 2024, the Green Exhibition served as a meeting point for multi-stakeholder engagement and renewable energy innovation in Maluku Province. Key stakeholders in Maluku’s energy sector, including the Provincial Energy and Mineral Resources Agency (ESDM), the Maluku Provincial Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), PT PLN (Persero) UIW MMU, Ambon State Polytechnic, and the NZMATES Programme, participated in showcasing creative and innovative solutions in the field of renewable energy.

This exhibition represented a tangible commitment to supporting a more sustainable future for Maluku. Among the highlights were displays by the top five finalists of the 2024 GENIUS Renewable Energy Innovation Competition, featuring projects that demonstrated the spirit of youth innovation in addressing energy transition challenges and promoting productive use of renewable energy in communities.

Sadali Ie, Acting Governor of Maluku, accompanied by the Head of the ESDM Agency, the Head of Bappeda, and a representative of the National Energy Council, officially opened the exhibition following the inauguration of the Maluku Energy Forum on Wednesday, 20 November 2024. In his opening remarks, the Acting Governor praised the creative utilisation of renewable energy on display and expressed full support for its wider implementation in society. He also toured the exhibition booths with invited guests, showing enthusiasm as he listened to explanations about the innovations and prototypes on display.

Exhibitors included prototypes from renewable energy innovation competition participants, BAPPEDA Maluku, the Maluku Provincial Energy and Mineral Resources Office, Politeknik Negeri Ambon, PT. PLN (Persero) UIW-MMU, and a renewable energy corner by NZMATES. Over the two days, this public exhibition served as an inclusive platform, attracting visitors from diverse backgrounds.

One of the exhibitors and a finalist of the GENIUS 2024 competition, Stevic Ilela, emphasised that the younger generation must have the determination to take an active role in accelerating the energy transition in Maluku. “If not us, then who? If not now, then when?” he said, inspiring attendees.
