The “Pūngao Pattimura Mini-grid Training Lab” is now fully installed at the Engineering Faculty of Pattimura University and the system has received its commissioning certificate.
PT Syntek Otomasi Indonesia (Syntek Energy & Control) conducted the installation of the lab components including PV modules, batteries, power meter, inverter, fuses, DC combiner, panel electrical components, weather station and control & monitoring system components throughout March and April 2021, despite the challenging conditions of the covid-19 pandemic. Strict health and safety protocols were followed throughout the implementation of the project.
Funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, through NZMATES, with a contribution from Pattimura University, the lab will be a first in Maluku. Students will be able to use the installation to apply different loads to the battery/solar PV system, investigate impacts on aspects such as battery cycling, renewable fraction, system efficiency and system reliability, operation and maintenance tasks, and simulate operating conditions of a mini-grid.
