Fahmi Basya has an educational background in Instrumentation Physics. Upon graduating from university, he developed an interest in renewable energy, particularly when he started working at a company focused on Solar Power Plants. In addition to solar, Fahmi also gained experience with wind and micro-hydro power plants.
Fahmi now has over 10 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, having worked with engineering procurement and construction (EPC) companies, both private and public, at local and international levels. His work has covered a range of applications including on-grid (rooftop) systems, off-grid (communal) systems, hybrid systems, solar-powered water pumps, street lighting, and telecommunications base transceiver stations (BTS). He has worked on projects across almost all regions of Indonesia, giving him many opportunities to learn about the local cultures of the areas he has lived in.
Currently, as a Renewable Energy Technical Specialist at NZMATES, Fahmi will play a role in developing renewable energy projects in Maluku Province to ensure that the electricity needs of residents in remote areas are met. This requires responsible oversight and monitoring to ensure that the solar power plants operate efficiently and effectively, so that residents can benefit from them.
