NZMATES Participates at 10th IndoEBTKE ConEx Virtual Conference

Indonesia EBTKE ConEx 2021 Forum is an integrated event dedicated to driving the growth and development of sustainable energy in Indonesia. The event presents an opportunity for all stakeholders, such as the government, private sector, as well as international and national organisations, to stay informed about the latest updates and innovations in renewable energy. This year, NZMATES hosted a virtual class on Wednesday 24th November, “Lessons Learned on Sustainability of Renewable Energy Mini Grids”.

Isra Amin Ali

From the community and back to the community. Isra Amin Ali has experience working and studying together with the community through empowerment programs in Maluku Province for about 10 years under the flag of local and international institutions such as the Bina Swadaya Foundation, UNIDO, Mercy Corps Indonesia and USAID.

Rifay Toisutta

Rifay Toisutta has more than 12 years experience in Administration, Logistics and Procurement.  He started working as a laborer in the distribution of packages for refugees with ACF after the riots in Maluku in 2000. Rifay then worked as a packager and was placed in a warehouse with + 50 workers whose daily work prepared food items to be distributed in various refugee shelters scattered in various regions in Maluku. For his achievement, Rifay was appointed as a head packager and later worked as a counter to the ACF organization in Ambon until mid 2001.

Marie De Fretes

Marie Irene de Fretes has 11 years of experience working in non-government organizations, including community development, capacity building, project management, programme development, formal & non formal education particularly in early childhood care and development (ECCD) and Basic Education (BE) and child rights. She has spent 10 years working with Save the Children in the Education Sector through programnes funded by Ausaid, NZAid, Hempel-Denmark, the European Union, Bvlgari and Thomson IFR in Maluku, NTT, NTB and Jakarta.

Kitty Garden

Kitty Garden is an international development specialist from Aotearoa New Zealand who joined the NZMATES team in April 2018. Kitty brings to NZMATES her extensive experience in the development sector, and her strong knowledge of good practice in delivering development projects.

Sustainability Guidelines Recommendation Brief

NZMATES has been working to accelerate renewable energy uptake in Maluku since 2018. Part of NZMATES assistance is conducting technical and socio-economic assessments for numerous solar PV mini-grids. From the assessment, NZMATES developed recommendations according to project phase, i.e.: scoping, planning, installation, operation and decommissioning. 

Webinar Women in Energy

To encourage greater women’s participation in the renewable energy sector in Maluku, NZMATES held its first Women in Energy Initiative starting in June 2021 and concluding with a public webinar on July 15, 2021. Findings from the survey were presented during a public webinar. NZMATES invited three women speakers from the energy sector: Head of BAPPEDA Maluku Economy and Natural Resources, Betti Ratekanan, Manager of IESR’s Sustainable Energy Access Program, Dr. Marlistya Citraningrum, and from NZMATES, our Renewable Energy Technical Specialist, Maryam Karimah. Each presentation was based on the speakers professional experience, and enabled us to draw a clear picture of challenges as well as opportunities for women’s participation in energy sector
